In the contemporary landscape, individuals find themselves bombarded with an overwhelming array of advertisements across various platforms. It’s estimated that the average Millennial and/or GenZer encounters up to 10,000 ads daily. Moreover, traditional advertising, which disrupts content flow and feels intrusive, is increasingly met with resistance by these younger demographics. Thus, the challenge lies in reaching these audiences in a manner that resonates authentically, captures attention, and aligns with their preferences, while seamlessly integrating brand messaging within the storytelling making them, the brands, an active part of the story.
Strategy
A Strong Desire for Travel and A Need to Discover One’s Identity
PALM ERA’s research group pinpointed two behavioral drivers that should be included in the creative solution. Firstly, there’s a profound desire among these audiences to travel, with an increasing preference for solo travel experiences. Secondly, a significant portion of Millennials and GenZers grapple with an identity crisis, seeking clarity on their heritage, roots, and present self-concept. Our strategy hinged on synergizing these two driving forces to offer a distinct value proposition to our target audience.
Creative solution
#GenerationSearch
We created #GenerationSearch, the first multi-platform series based on the concept of transformational travel (ancestry-based travel) that combines the desire to travel of the new generations with the desire for self-discovery of their identity and roots. #GenerationSearch is made for millennials and by millennials since it does include a full social media ecosystem that allows audiences to be part of the story and help drive content. The first season (Guatemala pilot) was awarded an Emmy in the USA.
